We’re all trying to find it the fountain of youth. I’m looking for that 110 pound 21 year-old. She’s got WAY more than 110 pounds now and has more frown lines than laugh lines. Who’d have guessed it? I used to laugh so much, you’d think those lines would be bigger. Ponce de Leon tried to find it. Estee Lauder has been working on it for decades. No one ages unless they have plastic surgeons and Melissa Joan Hart, and, if she’s got one, I want the number. That girl hasn’t aged past “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”.
Here’s my wish-list of things I would change with cosmetic surgery: bigger lips, frown lines, BE GONE!, cellulite from butt gone, MAYBE an ass lift, but let’s not get carried away, I kinda always wanted bigger boobs, and the big belly I’m toting that seems to be holding most of my fat, I could do without that. What’s on your wish-list? Here’s the list of things I like, I kinda like my big booty, my eyes are in good shape, I have cute ears, I don’t want my face going anywhere yet, my hips, beneath the belly, are in good shape, my boobs are pretty nice as they are, just always wanted to know what bigger ones my feel like, anyhow, my happy list is longer than my unhappy list, is the point. I suggest you take some inventory. This is the first time in history we can surgically turn back the clock, but the question that remains is, do we want to, and why?
First of all, ladies, we are capable of so much and I want to say that I have been inspired by women who, even towards the end of their careers, joined me in my undergrad and graduate degree programs because they wanted to change their career or finish a degree. With that being said, I also have no judgment about women who want to have Botox or plastic surgery. Ladies, do what you want, age be damned! If you’ve read any of my other blog posts like “Get Your Sparkle Back!” https://www.notamomma.com/get-your-sparkle-back/, I advocate women feeling sexy about themselves, even doing a, dare I say, a boudoir shoot? (I’ve done one-even as plus-sized-and, it’s completely worth it and empowering). So, go back to school at 50 and live your dream! Travel for a few months after your divorce! (Eat, Pray, Love, and all that!) Ask for that raise, don’t get it, look for a NEW job!
Remember when you had your first day of kindergarten? That very first teeny tiny step into school? You made it past that, didn’t you? In our lives, we set goals for ourselves, but sometimes major obstacles get in the way that can’t be overcome at that time. Today is your day to decide what you can do to make some movement towards those goals you once had to push back or aside or put off altogether whether you’re 20 or 60. If you’ve ever heard that saying, “life is what happens when you are making plans”? It is. Your birthday will keep on coming like the electric bill. Celebrate yourself and your girls every once in awhile. Celebrate your successes, your accomplishments, and don’t revel in your mistakes or failures. You never fail anything when you haven’t even tried, so, try. If you fall face-first, what do you have to lose?
