Positive affirmations have been shown to assist in increasing self-esteem, lowering anxiety, and increasing self-worth. If you’ve read some of my other blogs, you know that I am all about celebrating yourself. Everyone is special and beautiful and absolutely amazing all in their own way. These affirmations are more general, but I want you to pick three (or, hopefully, be inspired to write your own specific inspirational affirmations) to start with to say every morning and every night. I used to advise my clients to do the same when I was an active therapist because it just helps lead to a road to recovery for so many mental issues. Everyone gets anxiety or feels blue every once in awhile and these positive affirmations are just one more way to help beat the blues.
What do you like about yourself? I suggest making a sort of positive personal inventory. For me personally, since I am not working right now, I don’t feel much like I have the right to have fun, or feel pretty, or certain things like that, so those are some of those little things that I am personally working on for me. I just want women and men to feel free to celebrate themselves in a healthy manner.
